Thanks to a growing number of foreigners moving to Shanghai to live and work, international schools around the city are expanding their campuses and updating the curriculums to adapt to growing and changing demands. However, there are still waiting lists at the more popular schools.
Schools offer out of school activities and hobbies, children can often find so much to do after school that Shanghai really can be as enjoyable for the children as it is for the parents. It goes without saying that children learn quicker than their parent, having learnt Chinese in class, they can often be your translators in early months.
It is wise to bring your children’s current and future curriculum plans with you when you come to Shanghai. Most of the schools have a different curriculum from each other: some lean towards a more American standard curriculum, some more towards the UK, while others may tend to be towards Australia / New Zealand, so the choice is there for everyone.
